Hi folks, it Joe Da Silva here!
I wanted to start by saying how much I have appreciated your business over the last 36 Years! Yes I said it "36 YEARS" and boy has it been a fast ride!
I know I have told my story to many but for those who do not know how I got started and how I became Dasilva Racing, your about to read a pretty cool and heartfelt narrative of my life, so here goes it!
I was born in Angola, which is a Southern African nation known for its natural resourses, particularly oil and diamonds. My father and mother decided to move there to start a life in the Portugeuse Colony to raise a family and work a farm living off its natural resourses. My father amd mother worked very hard to give us a good life until one day it all came to an end. A war started which untimatley had us all flee from the counrty and my family lost everything, every piece of clothing, the money in my fathers bank account in Africa, our crops, the animals, and our home. We were lucky to get out alive and I will always remember how hard my parents worked and then lost it all. My parents had family in San Fransisco, California where we went and my parents worked on their farm and we went to school. My english was poor, learning a new language which had its frustrations as a young child but I did the best I could. Oh I bet you are all wondering where the "cars" came in......so back in angola where we went to church one Sunday, there was a gentlman that had a 1970 BMW and he would let the clutch out and rocks would fly everywhere!! I'm pretty sure I had a smile from ear to ear but I remember I loved it, it was a sign for what was to start much later in my teenage years.
We came to Canada, the land of the free where we became citizens in 1972, right in the heart of Toronto. My father started working in a factory and my mother was a house keeper. We were very happy as a family to be together and to start our life in Canada giving back to the country for what they gave us, which is security, freedom and most of all a place to call home.
